by Katie Clark
Hit radio show host Annalise Waters is challenged on-air when one
of her listeners, social studies teacher Christopher Sanders, accuses her of
being cold-hearted toward the needs of the local children’s hospital. Afraid of
public backlash, the station arranges a fundraiser for the hospital, with
Annalise at the head. But it’s a fundraiser that drags up painful memories from
Annalise’s past.
Christopher hadn’t intended to be hustled into a fundraiser—he’d
only wanted to make a point. But as he spends more time with Annalise, and
realizes his mistaken judgment, he can’t deny the growing feelings for this
woman who is anything but cold-hearted. Will she ever forgive his on-air
accusations and see the depth of his true feelings?

Review:
Love is definitely in the air in this fun romance with a serious sub-story.
A high school teacher. A talk show host. A teenager with cancer. A public challenge that becomes an entire Christmas-season fundraising event. In the midst of all the funds and festivities, the educator and the local celebrity find themselves learning a few lessons on life...and love. I enjoyed watching Annalise and Chris discover surprising truths about themselves even as they fell hopelessly in love—despite their best efforts to sabotage God’s plan.
A charming, well-written story with an underlying call to action on the cancer awareness-and-support front. The author packed a hefty chunk of emotion into an entertaining and nicely developed novella. This one made me smile even as it tugged on the ol’ heartstrings. Kudos to Katie!
Mini-interview:
What inspired you to write RADIO WAVE ROMANCE?
The initial idea came
when my husband made an off-handed comment about something totally unrelated.
He said, “That sounds more like a Christmas disaster!” The idea stuck in my
head…a Christmas disaster? Characters and circumstances took shape from there,
but the idea sat dormant for a few months still. Finally, after getting a
rejection on a different manuscript, I decided it was time to move on with
something new. So, I began writing Radio Wave Romance.
What
makes you laugh out loud?
The unexpected. I loved
things that are unexpectedly funny. Humor that catches you completely off
guard. Other “funnies” might make me smile, but if you want to get me to laugh
out loud, you had better surprise me!
Do
you usually insert a spiritual theme into your books? If so, do you have a
favorite?
I do. I can’t help but
do it, even when I try not to. Maybe that sounds odd, but it’s true I’ve tried
writing books without an overt Christian message. It always come out, though. I
guess I just don’t see how to separate the emotional journey from the spiritual
journey! My Christian faith is a tightknit part of my being.
Thanks for having me!
